About Us

I’m Renee Thompson, a Loan Officer with The Mortgage Firm, proudly serving families across Tampa Bay with a specialty in VA home loans. As a U.S. Army veteran and military spouse, I understand the unique challenges that come with moving, financing, and finding stability. Having relocated more than 15 times myself, I’ve built my career around helping others navigate the homebuying process with clarity, confidence, and care. My mission is simple: make financing approachable while ensuring families — especially veterans and first responders — feel supported every step of the way.

In addition to lending, I own Spartan Group Realty, a small veteran-owned brokerage. This gives me a unique advantage — I see both sides of the transaction and can anticipate what families need before, during, and after the closing table. Whether it’s guiding a first-time buyer, maximizing VA benefits, or helping a family transition to their next chapter, I bring both structure and compassion to the process.

Relationships matter most in this business. I believe in consistent communication, hands-on support, and serving others with the same dedication I carried through my military service and my years working at the Pentagon. Today, I bring that same sense of duty to the clients and community I serve here in Tampa Bay.

At home, I enjoy spending time with my husband of 24 years, our bonus daughter and grandchild, and our two dogs, Bo and Jaxon.
